Deuteronomy 6:1-9
1 These are the commands, decrees, and laws the Lord your God directed me to
teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, 2
so that you, your children, and their children after them may fear the Lord
your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I
give you, and so that you may enjoy a long life. 3 Hear,
Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and increase
greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of
your ancestors, promised you.

God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your
strength. 6 These commandments that I give you
today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your
children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the
road, lie down, and get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on
your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them
on the doorframes of your houses and your gates.
· The will of God is that we enjoy life.
· Living God’s way is about living under the umbrella of God’s peace in a world full of chaos.
Four things we are challenged to do
1. LOVE GOD.
· Loving
God should be with no compromise. We should manage our expectations and not
compare our lives with others.
· Let
go of stress because how we feel will make others around us feel the same.
· Your
FAMILY looks more like YOUR CHOICES than LIFE’S CIRCUMSTANCES!
2. TRUST GOD.
· We should love God enough to trust Him when life is not going our way.
· We have to trust God through all circumstances no matter where we are. Trust is
about believing more than we are feeling.
· Seasons are represented in the story (2 Kings 4).
i. Season of barrenness.
ii. Season of Blessed business.
iii. Season of desperate feeling.
· We should trust in God in all seasons.
· A PARENT’s priority is gradually transferring a kid’s dependence from THEM to
HIM!
3. FOLLOW GOD
· We should teach ourselves to follow God.
· How we live our lives get reproduced in the next generations. The younger generation follows the actions of the older generations.
4. PROCLAIM GOD
· We should focus on talking about God in every circumstance.
· We should let integrity and uprightness protect us.
· We should trust the Lord with our hearts, and our hope should be in God.
· We should proclaim the blessings of God in our family even when we go through tough times.
